The adventure begins

We arrived to a warm French welcome and decided to head south with no particular destination in mind, in other words, Coddiwompling, an old English slang word we both love. 

We have been travelling for four nights and have stayed mainly in Aires, or camping car parks. These are prolific in France and you can stay very cheap or for free within a short walking distance of
beautiful medieval cities, lakes and rivers.

 

Daphne has served us well. She is driving good and keeping us warm and cosy at night. She is delivering around 400 miles per tank of diesel so we are able to budget and keep off motorways, staying on N or D roads, the more scenic routes. Daphne’s cupboards are loaded with food and drink from home so we are slowly using this up and stopping every now and then for a fresh baguette. 

Life on the road suits us well and we are relaxed, in no hurry and feeling very privileged.

We are staying tonight in a proper campsite and will be cycling for a few days around the beautiful area of Vendee on the west coast of France. The adventure has begun and it all feels right.

The first day of the rest of our lives

We are off! The sunrose over southern England as we made our way to the ferry in Newhaven. Jane's Mum and Dad waved us off from the quayside. We received lots of good luck messages from family and friends and we finally sat back and realised we are homeless!

Or maybe free, adventurous spirits on the start of a new life together! Ivan finished work last week.

Jane met him from work and we sat in the local pub and thought, what have we done...

We worked really hard to empty the house of every single one of our possessions in order to get it ready to let out. We didn't think we would make it, especially as everything appeared to conspire against us. We had water leaks, car problems, push bike punctures, decorating disasters, and we finally made it. This morning we were ready and willing and able.

The world awaits and we can't wait! 

The tour

The tour shows you the inside and outside of our motorhome Daphne. Because of her Ivan and Jane can live comfortably in their new home on wheels. Giving up our jobs and going travelling is such a big step for us both and we are really excited and so happy with Daphne. To prepare we have had her thoroughly serviced and a new cam belt fitted, plus had her name blazoned across the front by our friend Mel. We are packing up the house and are trying to be patient. The vlog is our first and we had help from our niece Imogen. We hope you enjoy 😊.

The four letter word

The four letter word can be used many times making huge life changes. Our motorhome Daphne has taught us lots of new ones and we are looking forward to her being our new home on wheels.
It’s January 2019 and Jane has finished work, Ivan finishes later this month. Our house is let and we are packing up, another step closer to our dream of travel and play.

We aim to live a new life on four wheels. We aim to get outside more, live with nature, watch sunrises and sunsets, try new things and smile more.  Be excited, meet new people and wake up to new views. 2019 is going to be a blast.

We can think of many four letter words when trying to make huge life changes..... The one that feels the most important is HOME.  We will keep you posted as we make a new life in our new home and aim to try and make a video for next time, a Vlog, to show you around Daphne.
